DEPARTMENT OF ACCOUNTING
Jump to giving opportunities

The Department of Accounting is one of six departments in the Tippie College of Business. Since the department was established in 1933, nearly 6,000 individuals have earned B.B.A. (undergraduate), M.Ac. (Masters of Accountancy), or Ph.D. degrees. The placement record of our graduates at both the undergraduate and graduate level is consistently among the best in the college. A significant number of Iowa accounting graduates hold leadership positions in business, public accounting, government, and academic institutions.

The UI's undergraduate and graduate accounting programs are fully accredited by the Association to Advance the Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the primary accrediting body for business schools and accounting programs in the U.S. Out of more than 1,000 accounting programs nationwide, only about 15 percent have earned AACSB accreditation.

The 2004 edition of U.S. News and World Report's list of America's Best Colleges ranks the Tippie College of Business accounting program 28th overall and tied for 14th among public institutions.

Iowa's accounting faculty consistently has some of the highest teaching ratings in the college and is ranked among the top 10 departments among public universities in terms of published research in leading academic journals.

The continued success and vitality of the Accounting Department depends critically on the financial support of our alumni and friends. We encourage you to help us sustain and strengthen our programs through a gift to one or more of the accounts listed below.
