OFFICE OF THE STATE ARCHAEOLOGIST
Jump to giving opportunities
Gifts to the Office of the State Archaeologists (OSA) are an investment in the preservation of a nonrenewable resource--the archaeological record of Iowa. Established in 1959, the OSA serves a unique dual role in Iowa as both a designated research unit of The University of Iowa and as a state agency. The mission of the OSA is to develop, disseminate, and preserve knowledge of Iowa's human past through Midwestern and Plains archaeological research, scientific discovery, public stewardship, service, and education. OSA Education and Outreach Program staff members are national leaders in archaeology and cultural heritage education who develop customized school and community programs, educational materials, and professional development workshops for Iowa teachers. Your gift to the Midwestern Archaeology Fund will insure these resources are extended to provide all Iowans the opportunity to learn about their past. With 85 percent of funding for OSA activities being derived from externally-funded gifts, grants, and contracts, your investment matters.
